  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse 1 Samuel 5:3.

Talk about it: "Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD" (1 Samuel 5:3). The Philistines carried the ark to Gath (1 Samuel 5:8), then sent it to Ekron (1 Samuel 5:10). There they said, "let it go again to his own place" (1 Samuel 5:11).

The Bible story

The Philistines took the ark of God and set it by their idol Dagon in the house of Dagon at Ashdod. Early the next morning, "Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD." They set him in his place again, but the next morning he had fallen again, and his head and both the palms of his hands were cut off upon the threshold. The hand of the LORD was heavy upon them, so they sent the ark from Ashdod to Gath and then to Ekron, and asked to "let it go again to his own place." Read the whole story in 1 Samuel 5:1–12 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And when they of Ashdod arose early on the morrow, behold, Dagon was fallen upon his face to the earth before the ark of the LORD. And they took Dagon, and set him in his place again." (1 Samuel 5:3, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.
