  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Proverbs 15:1.

Talk about it: Abigail made haste and laid loaves, raisins and cakes of figs on asses (1 Samuel 25:18). She met David and fell at his feet (1 Samuel 25:24). David said, "blessed be thy advice" (1 Samuel 25:33).

Use them after the Abigail, David and Nabal Bible story page, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Nabal was very great, with three thousand sheep, but he was churlish, and when David's young men asked him for food, Nabal answered, "Who is David?" David and his men girded on their swords to go against him. Abigail, "a woman of good understanding," made haste and laid loaves, raisins and cakes of figs on asses, met David, and fell at his feet, and David said, "blessed be thou, which hast kept me this day from coming to shed blood." About ten days after, Nabal died, and David sent and took Abigail to be his wife. Read the whole story in 1 Samuel 25:2–42 (KJV).

Memory verse: "A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger." (Proverbs 15:1, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
