Frequently asked questions

What should we teach kids on Mother's Day?

That God tells us to honour our mothers (Exodus 20:12) and that mothers who love the LORD are a gift from Him. Hannah, who prayed for Samuel and kept her promise, is the classic Mother's Day Bible story (1 Samuel 1–2).

What is a good Mother's Day memory verse for kids?

Exodus 20:12: "Honour thy father and thy mother." For older kids, Proverbs 31:28: "Her children arise up, and call her blessed." For Hannah's story, 1 Samuel 1:27: "For this child I prayed."

How do we include children who don't have a mom at home?

Say "your mom, or someone who cares for you like a mom" every time, and let each child choose who gets their card or poem, a grandma, an aunt, a foster mom or a teacher. Several of our poems and prayer cards are written for exactly that.

What can our class make or do for Mother's Day?

Give every mom a KJV verse card or a prayer card, say the MOTHER acrostic poem in church, act out the Hannah skit, or play the left right game and Bible trivia at a Mother's Day tea.
