These free Solomon Builds the Temple mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help the priests bring the ark from Zion to the house of the LORD!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse 1 Kings 6:13.

Talk about it: Solomon built the house of the LORD and overlaid it within with pure gold (1 Kings 6:21). The priests brought the ark of the covenant of the LORD into the most holy place (1 Kings 8:6). Then "the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD" (1 Kings 8:11).

Use them after the Solomon Builds the Temple Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

In the fourth year of his reign, king Solomon began to build the house of the LORD of stone made ready before it was brought, "so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building." He lined it with boards of cedar, overlaid it within with pure gold, and was seven years in building it. Then the priests brought the ark of the covenant into the most holy place, under the wings of the cherubims, and "the glory of the LORD had filled the house of the LORD." Read the whole story in 1 Kings 6; 8:1–11 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel." (1 Kings 6:13, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
