  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse 1 Kings 17:24.

Talk about it: When the brook dried up (1 Kings 17:7), the LORD said, "Arise, get thee to Zarephath" (1 Kings 17:9). The widow made Elijah a little cake first, and "the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail" (1 Kings 17:16). She said, "the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth" (1 Kings 17:24).

Use them after the Elijah and the Widow of Zarephath Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

The LORD sent Elijah to Zarephath, where a widow woman had only "an handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse." Elijah told her, "Fear not," she made him a little cake first, and "the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail." When her son fell sick and "there was no breath left in him," Elijah carried him up into a loft and cried unto the LORD, and "the soul of the child came into him again, and he revived." The woman said, "the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth." Read the whole story in 1 Kings 17:8–24 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And the woman said to Elijah, Now by this I know that thou art a man of God, and that the word of the LORD in thy mouth is truth." (1 Kings 17:24, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
