  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Luke 24:34.

Talk about it: When Jesus broke the bread, "their eyes were opened, and they knew him" (Luke 24:31). "They rose up the same hour, and returned to Jerusalem" (Luke 24:33). There they heard, "The Lord is risen indeed" (Luke 24:34).

Use them after the The Road to Emmaus Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

The same day Jesus rose, two disciples, one of them named Cleopas, walked to a village called Emmaus and were sad. Jesus himself drew near and went with them, "but their eyes were holden that they should not know him," and beginning at Moses and all the prophets He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. They said, "Abide with us: for it is toward evening," and as He sat at meat with them, He took bread, blessed it, brake, and gave to them; then their eyes were opened, they knew him, and he vanished out of their sight. They said, "Did not our heart burn within us," and they rose up the same hour, returned to Jerusalem and heard, "The Lord is risen indeed." Read the whole story in Luke 24:13–35 (KJV).

Memory verse: "Saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon." (Luke 24:34, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
