The story: The same day Jesus rose, two disciples, one of them named Cleopas, walked to a village called Emmaus and were sad. Jesus himself drew near and went with them, "but their eyes were holden that they should not know him," and beginning at Moses and all the prophets He expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself. They said, "Abide with us: for it is toward evening," and as He sat at meat with them, He took bread, blessed it, brake, and gave to them; then their eyes were opened, they knew him, and he vanished out of their sight. They said, "Did not our heart burn within us," and they rose up the same hour, returned to Jerusalem and heard, "The Lord is risen indeed."
