The Lost Coin

These free Lost Coin mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help the woman find the way to her lost piece of silver!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Luke 15:10.

Talk about it: The woman lit a candle, swept the house, and did "seek diligently till she find it" (Luke 15:8). Then she said, "Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost" (Luke 15:9). Jesus said "there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth" (Luke 15:10).

Use them after the The Lost Coin Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Jesus asked what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, would not light a candle, sweep the house and seek diligently till she find it. Then she called her friends and her neighbours together, saying, "Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost." Jesus said there is "joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." Read the whole story in Luke 15:8–10 (KJV).

Memory verse: "Likewise, I say unto you, there is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth." (Luke 15:10, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
