- The Lost Coin
This Lost Coin worksheet comes in three free printable levels, so every class can use it. Easy (ages 4–6): kids circle the right word, circle the number and trace part of the memory verse. Medium (grades K–2): kids fill in eight story facts from a word box. Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up eight answers in Luke 15 and write the memory verse from memory. Each level downloads by itself or with an answer key page.
How to use it
Teach the story first, then hand out the worksheet as review. Pick the level that fits your kids, or print two levels for a class with mixed ages. For pre-readers, read each sentence and both choices out loud and let them circle.
What's on each level
- Easy, ages 4–6: five sentences with two choices to circle (ten pieces, one lost, a candle, sweep the house, rejoice), two "circle the number" questions (ten pieces of silver; one lost piece) and "joy in the presence of the angels" to trace and copy.
- Medium, grades K–2: a word box and eight fill-in-the-blank facts (the publicans and sinners, the parable, the ten pieces of silver, the candle, the sweeping, seeking diligently, the friends and neighbours, "I have found the piece"), plus Luke 15:10 with four missing words.
- Hard, grades 3–5: no word box. Kids read the verse given for each of eight questions and write the answer, write Luke 15:10 with only the first letters given, and answer one "think about it" question.
- Answer keys: every level has one, with a Bible reference for each answer.
Tips
- For the hard level, give each child or pair a King James Bible open to Luke 15.
- Early finishers can try the Lost Coin word search, crossword or maze.
