I Am the Vine

These free I Am the Vine mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help the branch find the way to the vine, so it can bear much fruit!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse John 15:5.

Talk about it: Jesus said, "I am the vine, ye are the branches" (John 15:5). "As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me" (John 15:4). When we stay close to Jesus and His words stay in us, we bear much fruit (John 15:7–8).

Use them after the I Am the Vine Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Jesus said, "I am the vine, ye are the branches." As a branch cannot bear fruit of itself except it abide in the vine, so we must abide in Him, "for without me ye can do nothing." He that abideth in Him bringeth forth much fruit, and herein is the Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; "so shall ye be my disciples." Read the whole story in John 15:1–8 (KJV).

Memory verse: "I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing." (John 15:5, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
