Achan's Sin

These free Achan's Sin mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help Joshua's messengers find the way to Achan's tent!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Proverbs 28:13.

Talk about it: Achan hid what he took "in the earth in the midst of my tent" (Joshua 7:21). But God knew, and He told Joshua, "Israel hath sinned" (Joshua 7:11). Joshua sent messengers, "and they ran unto the tent" (Joshua 7:22).

Use them after the Achan's Sin Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Achan, of the tribe of Judah, took of the accursed thing and hid it, and Israel fled before the men of Ai. The LORD told Joshua, "Israel hath sinned," and Joshua said to Achan, "tell me now what thou hast done; hide it not from me." Achan answered, "Indeed I have sinned against the LORD God of Israel": he had coveted a goodly Babylonish garment, two hundred shekels of silver and a wedge of gold, and hid them in the earth in the midst of his tent. Messengers found them there, and Achan's sin cost him his life. Read the whole story in Joshua 7:1–26 (KJV).

Memory verse: "He that covereth his sins shall not prosper: but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy." (Proverbs 28:13, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
