Samuel Anoints Saul for Kids: Bible Story & Printables
The story in a nutshell
Saul, the son of Kish, was "a choice young man, and a goodly," higher than any of the people from his shoulders and upward. When his father's asses were lost, Saul and a servant went to seek them and came to Samuel the seer, and the LORD had told Samuel a day before that He would send him a man out of the land of Benjamin to be captain over His people Israel. Samuel took a vial of oil, poured it upon Saul's head, and said, "Is it not because the LORD hath anointed thee to be captain over his inheritance?" Later at Mizpeh Saul hid himself among the stuff, but when he stood among the people, they shouted, "God save the king."
