Talk about it: Jacob "rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban" (Genesis 29:10). Jacob loved Rachel and said, "I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter" (Genesis 29:18). The years "seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her" (Genesis 29:20).

Use them after the Jacob, Rachel and Leah Bible story page, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Jacob came to a well in the field, rolled the stone from the well's mouth, and watered the flock of Laban his mother's brother, which Rachel kept, the daughter of Laban his mother's brother. Jacob loved Rachel and said, "I will serve thee seven years for Rachel thy younger daughter," and they "seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her." But Laban made a feast and brought Leah, the elder, to him instead, and when Jacob asked, "wherefore then hast thou beguiled me?" Laban said, "It must not be so done in our country, to give the younger before the firstborn." Laban gave him Rachel to wife also, and Jacob served with him yet seven other years. Read the whole story in Genesis 29:1–30 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And Jacob served seven years for Rachel; and they seemed unto him but a few days, for the love he had to her." (Genesis 29:20, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
