The Bible story
Athaliah destroyed the king's family and reigned over the land, but Jehosheba stole away the king's son Joash, and they hid him and his nurse, and he was hid in the house of the LORD six years. In the seventh year Jehoiada the priest brought him out, "put the crown upon him," and the people "clapped their hands, and said, God save the king." Joash was seven years old when he began to reign, and he "did that which was right in the sight of the LORD" all the days that Jehoiada the priest instructed him. Read the whole story in 2 Kings 11:1–12:2 (KJV).
Memory verse: "And Jehoash did that which was right in the sight of the LORD all his days wherein Jehoiada the priest instructed him." (2 Kings 12:2, KJV). It is printed on every level.
Using the mazes in class
- Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
- Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
- Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.
Answer keys
Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
