These free Jehoshaphat and the Singers mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help the singers go out before the army to the wilderness of Tekoa!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse 2 Chronicles 20:15.

Talk about it: Jehoshaphat appointed singers to go out before the army and say, "Praise the LORD; for his mercy endureth for ever" (2 Chronicles 20:21). "When they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments" (2 Chronicles 20:22). The battle was God's, just as He said (2 Chronicles 20:15).

Use them after the Jehoshaphat and the Singers Bible story page, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

When a great multitude of Moab and Ammon came against Jehoshaphat, he feared, set himself to seek the LORD and proclaimed a fast, and prayed, "neither know we what to do: but our eyes are upon thee." The Spirit of the LORD came upon Jahaziel, who said, "the battle is not yours, but God's." Jehoshaphat appointed singers to go out before the army, and "when they began to sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushments" against the enemies. Judah came back to Jerusalem with joy, for the LORD had made them to rejoice. Read the whole story in 2 Chronicles 20:1–30 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And he said, Hearken ye, all Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem, and thou king Jehoshaphat, Thus saith the LORD unto you, Be not afraid nor dismayed by reason of this great multitude; for the battle is not yours, but God’s." (2 Chronicles 20:15, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
