These free Joseph in Prison mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help the chief butler find the way from the prison back to Pharaoh!
- Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
- Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
- Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.
Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Genesis 40:8.
Talk about it: Joseph said, "Do not interpretations belong to God?" (Genesis 40:8). Pharaoh "restored the chief butler unto his butlership again" (Genesis 40:21). "Yet did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him" (Genesis 40:23).

The Bible story
In prison, Joseph served the chief butler and the chief baker of the king of Egypt, and each of them dreamed a dream. Joseph asked, "Do not interpretations belong to God?" and told the butler that within three days Pharaoh would restore him unto his place, and he asked the butler to make mention of him unto Pharaoh. It came to pass as Joseph had interpreted, but "did not the chief butler remember Joseph, but forgat him." Read the whole story in Genesis 40:1–23 (KJV).
Memory verse: "And they said unto him, We have dreamed a dream, and there is no interpreter of it. And Joseph said unto them, Do not interpretations belong to God? tell me them, I pray you." (Genesis 40:8, KJV). It is printed on every level.
Using the mazes in class
- Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
- Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
- Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.
Answer keys
Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
