  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Daniel 5:27.

Talk about it: Daniel was brought in before the king (Daniel 5:13). He said, "I will read the writing unto the king" (Daniel 5:17). The writing said, "Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting" (Daniel 5:27).

Use them after the The Handwriting on the Wall Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

King Belshazzar made a great feast and drank wine from the golden vessels taken out of the temple at Jerusalem, and they praised the gods of gold and silver. "In the same hour came forth fingers of a man's hand," and wrote upon the wall, and none of the king's wise men could read the writing. Daniel read it and told the king he had "not humbled thine heart": "Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting." That night Belshazzar was slain, and Darius the Median took the kingdom. Read the whole story in Daniel 5:1–31 (KJV).

Memory verse: "TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting." (Daniel 5:27, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
