Daniel's Diet Maze for Kids (Easy, Medium and Hard)

These free Daniel's Diet mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help Daniel find the way to Melzar to ask for pulse and water!

• Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
• Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
• Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Daniel 1:17.

Talk about it: Daniel "purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself" (Daniel 1:8). He asked Melzar, "let them give us pulse to eat, and water to drink" (Daniel 1:12). At the end of ten days their faces looked fairer, and God gave them knowledge and wisdom (Daniel 1:15, 17).

The Bible story

Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah were among the children of Israel brought to be taught in the palace of Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and the king appointed them a daily provision of his meat and wine. But "Daniel purposed in his heart that he would not defile himself" with it, and he asked Melzar to prove them ten days with pulse (food grown from seeds) to eat and water to drink. At the end of ten days their countenances appeared fairer and fatter in flesh than all the children which did eat the king's meat, and God gave them knowledge and wisdom, so that "among them all was found none like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah." Read the whole story in Daniel 1:1–21 (KJV).

Memory verse: "As for these four children, God gave them knowledge and skill in all learning and wisdom: and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams." (Daniel 1:17, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

• Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
• Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
• Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
