Barnabas

These free Barnabas mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help Barnabas and Saul find the way from Tarsus to Antioch!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Acts 11:24.

Talk about it: Barnabas went to Tarsus, "for to seek Saul" (Acts 11:25). "And when he had found him, he brought him unto Antioch" (Acts 11:26). There "the disciples were called Christians first in Antioch" (Acts 11:26).

Use them after the Barnabas Bible story page, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Joses, whom the apostles surnamed Barnabas, "The son of consolation," sold his land and laid the money at the apostles' feet. When Saul came to Jerusalem, the disciples "were all afraid of him," but Barnabas took him, brought him to the apostles, and told how Saul had seen the Lord in the way and had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. Later the church sent Barnabas to Antioch, for "he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith," and he brought Saul to Antioch, where the disciples were called Christians first. Read the whole story in Acts 4:36–37; Acts 9:26–31; Acts 11:22–26 (KJV).

Memory verse: "For he was a good man, and full of the Holy Ghost and of faith: and much people was added unto the Lord." (Acts 11:24, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
