This free Enoch Sunday school lesson teaches kids that we can walk with God every day, like Enoch did. "Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him" (Genesis 5:24), and Hebrews 11:5 says that before God took him, "he had this testimony, that he pleased God." It comes in four age levels, each a separate printable teacher lesson, plus one take-home sheet for families. Everything is in the order you teach it.
Choose your age level
- Preschool (ages 3–5), 20–30 minutes, 2 pages: a follow-my-feet path game, a short story with hand motions and repeat-after-me lines, three simple questions, a shortened memory verse ("Enoch walked with God") with a motion, and a path-drawing activity.
- Kindergarten to 2nd grade, 45 minutes, 3 pages: the Walk with Me game, the story in simple words, five recall questions with answers, the Footstep Verse game with four paper footprints, and a Footprint Path game.
- 3rd to 5th grade, 45–60 minutes, 3 pages: a walk-together game with Amos 3:3, kids look up verses in their own Bibles during a fuller story (counting seven from Adam, the "and he died" that Enoch's part doesn't have, Hebrews 11:5–6, and Enoch's great-grandson Noah), five thinking questions and three recall questions, and a Bible look-up race.
- Preteens (ages 11–12), 45–60 minutes, 3 pages: students read Genesis 5:18–27 and Hebrews 11:5–6 out loud themselves, then discuss what walking with God looks like every day, a life that pleases God, and faith that comes to God. Six discussion questions, a journal page, and two memory verses (Genesis 5:24 and Hebrews 11:6).

Tips for teaching Enoch
- Read Genesis 5:24 straight from your Bible, then Hebrews 11:5. Hebrews is the Bible's own explanation of "God took him."
- The Bible does not say how or where God took Enoch. The lessons don't add a chariot, a whirlwind or anything else.
- Older kids love finding that every other father in Genesis 5, from Adam to Lamech, ends "and he died," but Enoch's part doesn't.
- Short on time? Do the story, three questions and the memory verse. That is a solid 25-minute lesson.
Frequently asked questions
How long does this Enoch lesson take?
It depends on the age level. The preschool lesson takes 20 to 30 minutes, the kindergarten to 2nd grade lesson about 45 minutes, and the 3rd to 5th grade and preteen lessons 45 to 60 minutes. For a short class, do the story, three questions and the memory verse.
What is the main point of the story of Enoch for kids?
Enoch walked with God, and he pleased God. "Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took him" (Genesis 5:24). Hebrews 11:5 says that by faith Enoch did not see death, and before God took him "he had this testimony, that he pleased God." We can walk with God every day too.
What happened to Enoch in the Bible?
Enoch lived 65 years and had a son named Methuselah, then walked with God 300 years (Genesis 5:21–22). He lived 365 years in all (5:23). Then "he was not; for God took him" (5:24). Hebrews 11:5 says he "was translated that he should not see death; and was not found, because God had translated him." The Bible does not say how God took him, so the lessons don't add to it.
Is this Sunday school lesson really free?
