- Ages
- Preschool (3–5), Early Elementary (K–2), Upper Elementary (3–5)
- Time
- 15 to 30 minutes
- Scripture
- Luke 22:7–20; John 13:1–17
- Bible story
- The Last Supper
What you need
- The printed upper room card, bread, cup, basin, towel and verse card template (page 2), one per child (cardstock is sturdiest)
- Crayons or markers in brown, light brown, gray, orange, light blue and dark blue
- Scissors and a glue stick
- The printed house front page (page 3), one per child, and tan crayons (harder level)
Steps
- Color the table on the upper room card brown and the window dark blue, for the night (John 13:30). Color the bread light brown, the cup gray, the basin orange and the water in it light blue. Leave the towel white.

- Cut out the upper room card, the bread, the cup, the basin, the towel and the verse card on the dashed lines. Help younger children with the cutting.
- Glue the bread and the cup on their dotted outlines on top of the table (Luke 22:19–20).
- Glue the basin and the towel on their dotted outlines on the floor beside the table (John 13:4–5).
- Turn the card over and glue the verse card on the back. Read it together.
- Point to each piece and tell the story. The basin and the towel show that Jesus washed the disciples' feet to give them an example (John 13:14–15). The bread and the cup show what Jesus said, "This do in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:19).

This Last Supper craft turns one printed page into the large upper room where Jesus ate the passover with His disciples (Luke 22:12–14). Kids color and glue the bread and the cup on the table, and a basin of water and a towel on the floor, then tell the story with each piece: Jesus washed the disciples' feet to give them an example (John 13:14–15), and He broke the bread and said, "This do in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:19). The memory verse goes on the back. It costs under 50 cents a child, takes about 20 minutes and comes in three levels, from preschool to 5th grade.

What it looks like finished: easy and medium (first photo) and harder (second photo).
Why this craft works
- Cheap and simple: one printed page, crayons, scissors and a glue stick.
- Kids tell the story with it: the basin and the towel for serving (John 13:4–5), the bread and the cup for remembering (Luke 22:19–20).
- It keeps the Bible's details: a dark window because "it was night" (John 13:30), flat bread for the day of unleavened bread (Luke 22:7), and no people drawn. The verse card on the back has John 13:34 (KJV).
Three ways to make it
- Easy (preschool, ages 3–5): you cut out the pieces. Kids color them and glue each one on its dotted outline. No scissors.
- Medium (grades K–2): the craft in the first photo. Kids color, cut out the pieces, glue them on the upper room card and glue the verse card on the back.
- Harder (grades 3–5): kids add a house front from page 3 with two cut-out windows. It folds down over the card, so the bread and the cup show through the big window, and lifts up to show the basin and the towel. Then they say the memory verse from memory.
Questions to ask
While kids work, ask who Peter and John followed to find the upper room (Luke 22:10) and what Jesus did with the basin and the towel (John 13:4–5). Then point to the bread and the cup and ask what Jesus said: "This do in remembrance of me" (Luke 22:19). This craft is for remembering what Jesus said and did; it is not a pretend communion.
Tips for the classroom
Print page 2 on cardstock if you can. For preschoolers, cut out the pieces ahead of time, so all they do is color and glue.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a simple Last Supper craft for preschoolers?
Cut out each child's upper room card, bread, cup, basin, towel and verse card ahead of time. Preschoolers color the pieces and glue them on the dotted outlines with a glue stick, then you help them glue the verse card on the back. It takes about 15 minutes with no cutting by the kids.
How much does this Last Supper craft cost?
Under 50 cents a child: one printed page (cardstock is best), and crayons and a glue stick you already have. The template is free to print.
What Bible verse goes with a Last Supper craft?
John 13:34 (KJV), "A new commandment I give unto you, That ye love one another; as I have loved you, that ye also love one another." It is printed on the verse card that kids glue on the back.
How can older kids make this Last Supper craft harder?
Use the harder level for grades 3–5. Kids add a house front from page 3 that folds down over the room card like a flap. They cut out its two windows, so the bread and the cup on the table show through the big window. Lift the house front to see the basin and the towel. Then they say John 13:34 from memory.
