- The Wheat and the Tares
This Wheat and the Tares worksheet comes in three free printable levels, so every class can use it. Easy (ages 4–6): kids circle the right word, circle the number and trace part of the memory verse. Medium (grades K–2): kids fill in eight story facts from a word box. Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up eight answers in Matthew 13 and write the memory verse from memory. Each level downloads by itself or with an answer key page.
How to use it
Teach the story first, then hand out the worksheet as review. Pick the level that fits your kids, or print two levels for a class with mixed ages. For pre-readers, read each sentence and both choices out loud and let them circle.
What's on each level
- Easy, ages 4–6: five sentences with two choices to circle (good seed, the enemy, the servants, grow together, the barn), two "circle the number" questions (one enemy; both = two kinds of plants) and "gather the wheat into my barn" to trace and copy.
- Medium, grades K–2: a word box and eight fill-in-the-blank facts (the good seed, the enemy, the tares, the servants, "an enemy hath done this", root up, grow together, the barn), plus Matthew 13:30 with four missing words.
- Hard, grades 3–5: no word box. Kids read the verse given for each of eight questions and write the answer, write Matthew 13:30 with only the first letters given, and answer one "think about it" question.
- Answer keys: every level has one, with a Bible reference for each answer.
Tips
- For the hard level, give each child or pair a King James Bible open to Matthew 13.
- Early finishers can try the Wheat and the Tares word search, crossword or maze.
