The Lost Sheep

This lost sheep worksheet comes in three free printable levels, so every class can use it. Easy (ages 4–6): kids circle the right word, circle the number and trace part of the memory verse. Medium (grades K–2): kids fill in eight story facts from a word box. Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up eight answers in Luke 15:1–7 and write the memory verse from memory. Each level downloads by itself or with an answer key page.

How to use it

Teach the story first, then hand out the worksheet as review. Pick the level that fits your kids, or print two levels for a class with mixed ages. For pre-readers, read each sentence and both choices out loud and let them circle.

What's on each level

  • Easy, ages 4–6: five sentences with two choices to circle (the hundred sheep, the lost one, looking until he could find it, carrying it on his shoulders, his joy), two "circle the number" questions (100 sheep, 1 lost) and "to seek and to save" to trace and copy.
  • Medium, grades K–2: a word box and eight fill-in-the-blank facts (the publicans and sinners came to hear Jesus, the parable, one hundred sheep, one lost, the ninety and nine, until he could find it, on his shoulders, his friends and neighbors), plus Luke 19:10 with four missing words.
  • Hard, grades 3–5: no word box. Kids read the verse given for each of eight questions and write the answer, write Luke 19:10 with only the first letters given, and answer one "think about it" question.
  • Answer keys: every level has one, with a Bible reference for each answer.
