Zacchaeus

This Zacchaeus worksheet comes in three free printable levels, so every class can use it. Easy (ages 4–6): kids circle the right word, circle the number and trace part of the memory verse. Medium (grades K–2): kids fill in eight story facts from a word box. Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up eight answers in Luke 19:1–10 and write the memory verse from memory. Each level downloads by itself or with an answer key page.

How to use it

Teach the story first, then hand out the worksheet as review. Pick the level that fits your kids, or print two levels for a class with mixed ages. For pre-readers, read each sentence and the choices out loud and let them circle.

What's on each level

  • Easy, ages 4–6: five sentences with two choices to circle (Zacchaeus was short, he climbed a tree, Jesus said "come down," Jesus went to his house, he gave to the poor), two "circle the number" questions and "to seek and to save" to trace and copy.
  • Medium, grades K–2: a word box and eight fill-in-the-blank facts (Jericho, rich, the sycomore tree, "come down," "abide at thy house," joyfully, the poor, salvation), plus Luke 19:10 with four missing words.
  • Hard, grades 3–5: no word box. Kids read the verse given for each of eight questions and write the answer, write Luke 19:10 with only the first letters given, and answer one "think about it" question.
  • Answer keys: every level has one, with a Bible reference for each answer.

Tips

  • For the hard level, give each child or pair a King James Bible open to Luke 19.
  • The KJV says Zacchaeus was "little of stature," which means short, and spells his tree "sycomore."
  • Early finishers can try the Zacchaeus word search.
  • Need the full lesson? Use the free Zacchaeus Sunday school lesson, which these worksheets follow.
