  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Luke 2:4.

Talk about it: Joseph went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem, to be taxed with Mary (Luke 2:4–5). While they were there, Mary's firstborn son was born and laid in a manger (Luke 2:6–7).

Use them after the The Road to Bethlehem Sunday school lesson, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

Caesar Augustus sent out a decree that all the world should be taxed, so everyone went to his own city to be counted. Joseph was of the house of David, so he went up from Nazareth to Bethlehem, the city of David, with Mary, who was great with child. Read the whole story in Luke 2:1–7; Micah 5:2 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)" (Luke 2:4, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
