Lydia

These free Lydia mazes come in three levels, so every child in your class gets a maze they can finish. Help Lydia find the way from the river side to her house!

  • Easy (ages 4–6): one path with no wrong turns.
  • Medium (grades K–2): two or three side paths that lead to dead ends.
  • Hard (grades 3–5): many wrong turns, with side paths branching off other side paths.

Each level downloads on its own, with or without an answer key, and every maze has the King James verse Acts 16:14.

Talk about it: Lydia heard Paul by a river side, and the Lord opened her heart (Acts 16:13–14). She was baptized, and her household (Acts 16:15). Then she said, "come into my house, and abide there" (Acts 16:15).

Use them after the Lydia Bible story page, with the crossword and word search.

The Bible story

On the sabbath Paul and those with him went out of the city of Philippi by a river side, "where prayer was wont to be made," and spake unto the women which resorted thither. A certain woman named Lydia, "a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God," heard them, and the Lord opened her heart to attend unto the things which were spoken of Paul. She was baptized, and her household, and she said, "come into my house, and abide there." Read the whole story in Acts 16:11–15 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And a certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple, of the city of Thyatira, which worshipped God, heard us: whose heart the Lord opened, that she attended unto the things which were spoken of Paul." (Acts 16:14, KJV). It is printed on every level.

Using the mazes in class

  • Give each child the level they can finish: the easy maze for ages 4–6, medium for kindergarten to 2nd grade, hard for 3rd to 5th grade.
  • Tell the story first, then let kids trace the path with a finger before they use a pencil or crayon.
  • Say the memory verse together when they reach the end, then read the "Talk about it" box on the sheet.

Answer keys

Each level downloads two ways: the puzzle on its own, or with a second page that shows the answer (the path drawn in red). Print the key for helpers, or let kids check their own work.
