The Prodigal Son

A Father's Day Bible word search in three levels, so every age in your class has one that fits. Each level prints with or without its answer key, and every word is in the King James Bible.

  • Easy: 8 short words (father, son, love, pray, obey...) in a small grid, for preschool and kindergarten.
  • Medium: 12 words from Father's Day verses, like honour, instruction, integrity and compassion, for grades 1–3.
  • Hard: 16 words straight from Jesus' story of the father who ran to his son (Luke 15:11–32): swine, husks, fatted, robe, ring, shoes... hidden in every direction, for grades 4 and up.

Talk about it

When kids finish, read Luke 15:20 together: "But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him." Ask: which word in your puzzle shows how the father felt? (Compassion.) Then read the whole story in our prodigal son story set (memory verse 1 John 1:9).
