Jacob and Esau

This Jacob and Esau worksheet comes in three free printable levels, so every class can use it. Easy (ages 4–6): kids circle the right word, circle the number and trace part of the memory verse. Medium (grades K–2): kids fill in eight story facts from a word box. Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up eight answers in Genesis 25 and Genesis 27 and Genesis 32–33 and write the memory verse from memory. Each level downloads by itself or with an answer key page.

How to use it

Teach the story first, then hand out the worksheet as review. Pick the level that fits your kids, or print two levels for a class with mixed ages. For pre-readers, read each sentence and both choices out loud and let them circle.

What's on each level

  • Easy, ages 4–6: five sentences with two choices to circle (twins, the hunter, bread and stew, the new name Israel, Esau hugged Jacob), two "circle the number" questions (four hundred men; seven times) and "be ye kind one to another" to trace and copy.
  • Medium, grades K–2: a word box and eight fill-in-the-blank facts (the twins, Esau the hunter, the birthright, the pottage, the venison, the hairy man, Jacob's new name Israel, Esau embraced him), plus Ephesians 4:32 with four missing words.
  • Hard, grades 3–5: no word box. Kids read the verse given for each of eight questions and write the answer, write Ephesians 4:32 with only the first letters given, and answer one "think about it" question.
  • Answer keys: every level has one, with a Bible reference for each answer.
