The story: Jesus told of a certain rich man, "clothed in purple and fine linen," and a beggar named Lazarus who was laid at his gate, "desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table." When the beggar died, he "was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom" and was comforted, but the rich man was in torment, and a great gulf was fixed between them. The rich man asked Abraham to send Lazarus to testify unto his five brethren, and Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them."

The Bible story

Jesus told of a certain rich man, "clothed in purple and fine linen," and a beggar named Lazarus who was laid at his gate, "desiring to be fed with the crumbs which fell from the rich man’s table." When the beggar died, he "was carried by the angels into Abraham’s bosom" and was comforted, but the rich man was in torment, and a great gulf was fixed between them. The rich man asked Abraham to send Lazarus to testify unto his five brethren, and Abraham said, "They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them." Read the whole story in Luke 16:19–31 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded, though one rose from the dead." (Luke 16:31, KJV). It is printed on every level.
