- Jacob's Ladder
Use this word search after you teach Jacob's Ladder (Genesis 28:10–22).
The story: Jacob went out from Beer-sheba toward Haran, took of the stones of that place for his pillows, and lay down to sleep. He dreamed of a ladder set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven, with the angels of God ascending and descending on it, and the LORD stood above it and said, "I am with thee, and will keep thee in all places whither thou goest." Jacob awaked and said, "Surely the LORD is in this place; and I knew it not." He set up the stone for a pillar, poured oil upon the top of it, and called the place Bethel.
Talk about it: Big idea: God is with me everywhere, God keeps His promises. Which word from the puzzle reminds you most of the story?
Three levels: easy (ages 4–6) has 6 big words that go only across and down; medium (grades K–2) has 10 words that also go diagonally; hard (grades 3–5) has 16 words that go every direction, even backwards. Each downloads with or without an answer key.
The Bible story
Jacob went out from Beer-sheba toward Haran, took of the stones of that place for his pillows, and lay down to sleep. Read the whole story in Genesis 28:10–22 (KJV).
