Elijah and Elisha Crossword for Kids (Easy, Medium and Hard)

These free Elijah and Elisha crossword puzzles come in three levels, so every reader in your class can finish one. Every answer comes from the King James Bible (2 Kings 2:1–15), and each level downloads with or without an answer key.

• Easy (ages 5–7): short answers, simple clues and a word box to pick from.
• Medium (grades K–2): more words and no word box.
• Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up each verse in their Bible to find the answer.

The Bible story

When the LORD would take Elijah up into heaven by a whirlwind, Elisha would not leave him: "As the LORD liveth, and as thy soul liveth, I will not leave thee." Elijah smote the waters of Jordan with his mantle and they two went over on dry ground, and Elisha asked, "let a double portion of thy spirit be upon me." Then "there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire," and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven. Elisha took up the mantle of Elijah and smote the waters, and they parted, and the sons of the prophets said, "The spirit of Elijah doth rest on Elisha." Read the whole story in 2 Kings 2:1–15 (KJV).

Memory verse: "And it came to pass, as they still went on, and talked, that, behold, there appeared a chariot of fire, and horses of fire, and parted them both asunder; and Elijah went up by a whirlwind into heaven." (2 Kings 2:11, KJV). It is printed on every level.
