- Preschool (3–5), Early Elementary (K–2), Upper Elementary (3–5)
- Time
- 15 to 30 minutes
- Scripture
- 1 Kings 10:1–13
- Bible story
- The Queen of Sheba
What you need
- The printed template (page 2), one per child (cardstock is sturdiest)
- Crayons or markers in light blue, yellow, brown, gray, red, green and blue
- Scissors and a glue stick
- The printed gift chest page (page 3), one per child (harder level)
Steps
- Color the card: the sky light blue, the sun and the ground yellow, the camel brown, the wall of Jerusalem gray and the gate brown.

- Color the pack: the basket red, the spice bag green, the gold yellow and the stones blue.
- Cut out the card, the pack and the verse strip on the dashed lines. Help younger children with the cutting.
- Glue the pack on the dotted shape on the camel's back.
- Turn the card over. Glue the verse strip on the back and read it together.
- Tell it: walk the camel card toward the gate as you say, "she came to Jerusalem with a very great train, with camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones" (1 Kings 10:2). She came to hear the wisdom God gave Solomon, and she said, "Blessed be the LORD thy God" (10:9).

This queen of Sheba craft turns one printed page into a camel card at the gate of Jerusalem. The queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame "concerning the name of the LORD" and came "to prove him with hard questions," with "camels that bare spices, and very much gold, and precious stones" (1 Kings 10:1–2). Kids color the camel and the wall of Jerusalem and glue a pack of spices, gold and stones on the camel's back. When she saw the wisdom God gave Solomon, she said, "Blessed be the LORD thy God" (10:9). It comes in three levels, with the template and teacher notes in one free PDF.

What it looks like finished: easy and medium (first photo) and harder (second photo).
Why this craft works
- Cheap and simple: one printed page, glue, crayons and scissors.
- Kids can tell the story with it: walk the camel to the gate of Jerusalem the way the queen came with her very great train (1 Kings 10:2).
- It follows the Bible closely: the spices, gold and precious stones come from 10:2 and 10:10, and no crown, throne or jewelry is added.
- It points to God: Solomon's wisdom came from God (1 Kings 3:12), and the queen said, "Blessed be the LORD thy God" (10:9).
- It carries the verse home: 1 Kings 10:9 (KJV) is glued on the back of the card.
Three ways to make it
- Easy (preschool, ages 3–5): you cut out the pieces. Kids color and glue the pack on the camel's back. No scissors.
- Medium (grades K–2): the craft in the first photo. Kids color, cut out and glue the pieces themselves.
- Harder (grades 3–5): the craft in the second photo. Kids also add an open gift chest from page 3 by the gate, for the gold, spices and precious stones the queen "gave the king" (1 Kings 10:10).
Questions to ask
While kids work, ask what the queen of Sheba heard about Solomon (1 Kings 10:1), why she came (10:1), what her camels carried (10:2), whether Solomon could answer her questions (10:3), what she said when she saw it all (10:7, 10:9), and who gave Solomon his wisdom (1 Kings 3:12). Then read 1 Kings 10:9 together.
Tips for the classroom
Cardstock keeps the card stiff enough to "walk" across the table. For preschoolers, cut out the pieces ahead of time. Talk about where Solomon's wisdom came from: God gave it, and the queen praised the LORD for it.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a simple queen of Sheba craft for preschoolers?
Cut out each child's card, pack and verse strip ahead of time. Preschoolers color the camel, the wall of Jerusalem and the pack of gifts. Then they glue the pack on the camel's back while you glue the verse on the back. It takes about 15 minutes with no cutting by the kids.
How much does this queen of Sheba craft cost?
Under 50 cents a child: one printed page, a little glue, and crayons you already have. The template is free to print. The harder level adds a second page.
What Bible verse goes with this craft?
1 Kings 10:9 (KJV), where the queen said to Solomon, "Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee, to set thee on the throne of Israel: because the LORD loved Israel for ever, therefore made he thee king, to do judgment and justice." It is printed on the verse strip that goes on the back of the card.
How can older kids make this craft harder?
Use the harder level for grades 3–5. Kids also color and cut out an open gift chest from page 3 and glue it by the gate of Jerusalem, because the queen "gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices very great store, and precious stones" (1 Kings 10:10).
