What you need
- The printed template (page 2), one per child (cardstock is sturdiest)
- Crayons or markers in light blue and dark blue, and any colors for drawing Naaman
- Scissors and a glue stick
- The printed water door page (page 3), one per child (harder level)
Steps
- Color the river light blue, but leave the oval window white. Color the seven waves dark blue.

- In the window, draw Naaman coming up out of the Jordan, made clean: his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child (2 Kings 5:14).
- Cut out the river, the seven waves and the verse card on the dashed lines. Help younger children with the cutting.
- Glue the seven waves in a row along the bottom of the river, under the window, with their flat bottoms on the river's bottom edge. Count them out loud as you glue: one, two, three, four, five, six, seven.
- Glue the verse card on the back of the river and read it together.

This Naaman craft turns one printed page into the Jordan River with seven waves. Naaman, a great army captain, had leprosy, a sickness of the skin. Elisha sent word, "Go and wash in Jordan seven times" (2 Kings 5:10), and when Naaman obeyed, "his flesh came again like unto the flesh of a little child, and he was clean" (5:14). Kids color the river, draw Naaman made clean in its window, and glue on seven waves, counting each time he dipped. The memory verse, 2 Kings 5:15, goes on the back. It costs under 50 cents a child, takes about 20 minutes and comes in three levels, from preschool to 5th grade.

What it looks like finished: easy and medium (first photo) and harder (second photo).
Why this craft works
- Cheap and simple: one printed page and crayons.
- It follows the Bible closely: the river and the seven waves come from 2 Kings 5:10 and 5:14. The harder level's water door opens and shuts seven times, the way Naaman went down and "dipped himself seven times in Jordan" (5:14).
- Every child draws Naaman: kids draw him coming up out of the water, made clean, inside the river.
- It carries the verse home: the template includes 2 Kings 5:15 (KJV) on a card to glue on the back.
Three ways to make it
- Easy (preschool, ages 3–5): you cut out the pieces. Kids color, draw Naaman and glue on the seven waves with your help, counting to seven. No scissors.
- Medium (grades K–2): the craft in the first photo. Kids color, draw Naaman, cut out the pieces and glue on the waves.
- Harder (grades 3–5): kids add a water door from page 3 that folds open and shut over the window (2 Kings 5:14).
Questions to ask
While kids work, ask what sickness Naaman had (2 Kings 5:1), who told about God's prophet (5:2–3), what Elisha told Naaman to do (5:10), how Naaman felt at first (5:11–12), how many times he dipped (5:14) and what happened to his skin (5:14). Then read 2 Kings 5:15 together.
Tips for the classroom
For preschoolers, cut out the pieces ahead of time and count the waves together as each one goes on. Describe leprosy simply and kindly: a sickness of the skin that God healed.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a simple Naaman craft for preschoolers?
Cut out each child's river, seven waves and verse card ahead of time. Preschoolers color the river light blue and the waves dark blue, and draw Naaman in the window. Then they glue the seven waves along the bottom of the river with your help, counting to seven. It takes about 15 minutes with no cutting by the kids.
How much does this Naaman is healed craft cost?
Under 50 cents a child: one printed page and crayons you already have. The template is free to print.
What Bible verse goes with this Naaman craft?
2 Kings 5:15 (KJV), "And he returned to the man of God, he and all his company, and came, and stood before him: and he said, Behold, now I know that there is no God in all the earth, but in Israel: now therefore, I pray thee, take a blessing of thy servant." It is printed on the verse card that kids glue on the back of the river.
How can older kids make this craft harder?
Use the harder level for grades 3–5. Kids add a water door from page 3 that folds over the window. Close it, and Naaman is down in the Jordan; open it, and he comes up clean, because "then went he down, and dipped himself seven times in Jordan" (2 Kings 5:14).
