- The Sermon on the Mount
This Sermon on the Mount worksheet comes in three free printable levels, so every class can use it. Easy (ages 4–6): kids circle the right word, circle the number and trace part of the memory verse. Medium (grades K–2): kids fill in eight story facts from a word box. Hard (grades 3–5): kids look up eight answers in Matthew 5–7 and write the memory verse from memory. Each level downloads by itself or with an answer key page.
How to use it
Teach the story first, then hand out the worksheet as review. Pick the level that fits your kids, or print two levels for a class with mixed ages. For pre-readers, read each sentence and both choices out loud and let them circle.
What's on each level
- Easy, ages 4–6: five sentences with two choices to circle (the mountain, salt, light, the fowls of the air, love your enemies), two "circle the number" questions (two masters; go a mile, go twain) and "Let your light so shine" to trace and copy.
- Medium, grades K–2: a word box and eight fill-in-the-blank facts (the mountain, the salt of the earth, the city on an hill, love your enemies, the fowls of the air, the lilies of the field, seek ye first the kingdom of God, the strait gate), plus Matthew 5:16 with four missing words.
- Hard, grades 3–5: no word box. Kids read the verse given for each of eight questions and write the answer, write Matthew 5:16 with only the first letters given, and answer one "think about it" question.
- Answer keys: every level has one, with a Bible reference for each answer.
Tips
- For the hard level, give each child or pair a King James Bible open to Matthew 5–7.
- Early finishers can try the Sermon on the Mount word search, crossword or maze.
