The story: The child Samuel ministered unto the LORD before Eli, and one time, as Samuel was laid down to sleep in the temple, the LORD called him three times, but each time Samuel went to Eli and said, "Here am I," for he "did not yet know the LORD." Then Eli perceived that the LORD had called the child and told him what to say, so when the LORD called the fourth time, "Samuel, Samuel," he answered, "Speak; for thy servant heareth."
