- Ages
- Preschool (3–5), Early Elementary (K–2), Upper Elementary (3–5)
- Time
- 15 to 30 minutes
- Scripture
- Acts 2:1–6; Acts 2:37–41
- Bible story
- Pentecost
What you need
- The printed template (page 2), one per child (cardstock is sturdiest)
- 1 sheet of dark blue construction paper per child (9 by 12 inches)
- Crayons or markers in light blue, tan, brown, red, orange and yellow (and green and blue for the harder level)
- Scissors and a glue stick
- The printed answer card page (page 3), one per child (harder level)
Steps
- Color the wind piece light blue. Color the house tan and the door brown. Color the four flames red, orange and yellow. Draw one face in each of the four windows for the believers in the house.

- Cut out the wind piece, the house, the four flames and the verse strip on the dashed lines. Help younger children with the cutting.
- Hold the dark blue paper the tall way. Glue the wind piece across the top: the sound came from heaven (Acts 2:2).
- Glue the house near the bottom of the paper.
- Glue one flame on the wall just above each window: cloven tongues like as of fire sat upon each of them (Acts 2:3).
- Glue the verse strip on the back and read it together.

This Pentecost craft turns one printed page into the house from Acts 2:1–4. Kids glue the sound from heaven, "as of a rushing mighty wind" (Acts 2:2), across the top, draw the believers in the windows, and set a flame above each window, because "cloven tongues like as of fire" sat upon each of them (2:3). The memory verse, Acts 1:8, goes on the back. It costs under 50 cents a child, takes about 20 minutes and comes in three levels, from preschool to 5th grade.

What it looks like finished: easy and medium (first photo) and harder (second photo).
Why this craft works
- Cheap and simple: one printed page, one sheet of construction paper and crayons.
- It follows the Bible closely: the wind piece comes from Acts 2:2, the flames above each window from Acts 2:3, and the harder level's answer card uses Peter's own words in Acts 2:38.
- Kids draw the people: no one is drawn on the template. Kids draw the believers in the windows and tell you what happened to them.
- It carries the verse home: the template includes Acts 1:8 (KJV) on a strip to glue on the back.
Three ways to make it
- Easy (preschool, ages 3–5): you cut out the pieces. Kids color and glue the house scene with your help. No scissors.
- Medium (grades K–2): the craft in the first photo. Kids color, cut out the pieces, draw faces in the windows and glue the wind, the house and the flames.
- Harder (grades 3–5): kids add an answer card from page 3 below the house, with three flaps that lift to show Peter's answer to "What shall we do?" (Acts 2:37–38), and glue Acts 2:39 on the back.
Questions to ask
While kids work, ask what came from heaven (Acts 2:2), what sat upon each of them (2:3), what happened when they were filled with the Holy Ghost (2:4) and what Peter told the people to do (2:38). Then read Acts 1:8 together.
Tips for the classroom
For preschoolers, cut out the pieces ahead of time so all they do is color and glue. The Bible does not say how many were in the house, so the four windows are just the windows on this house. Jesus is not drawn: He had already been taken up into heaven (Acts 1:9).

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a simple Pentecost craft for preschoolers?
Cut out each child's pieces ahead of time. Preschoolers color the wind piece, the house and the flames, then glue them on dark blue paper with your help: the wind across the top, the house near the bottom and a flame above each window. It takes about 15 minutes with no cutting by the kids.
How much does this Pentecost craft cost?
Under 50 cents a child: one printed page, one sheet of construction paper and crayons you already have. The template is free to print.
What Bible verse goes with this Pentecost craft?
Acts 1:8 (KJV), "But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth." It is printed on the verse strip that kids glue on the back.
How can older kids make this Pentecost craft harder?
Use the harder level for grades 3–5. Kids add an answer card from page 3 below the house, with three flaps that lift to show Peter's answer to "What shall we do?" (Acts 2:37–38), and glue Acts 2:39 on the back.
