An original candy cane poem about Jesus, written for VBS HQ. Print it on cardstock, cut it out, and tape it to candy canes for Sunday school kids, Christmas outreach bags or a class gift.

Use it as an object lesson: hold up a candy cane and ask kids what letter it looks like. Turn it upside down: what does it look like now? Then read the poem together and talk about Jesus, the Good Shepherd (Psalm 23) who came at Christmas and gave His life for us.

Frequently asked questions

Is the candy cane really a Christian symbol?

The candy cane wasn't invented as a hidden Christian symbol (that's a popular legend), but it makes a wonderful reminder of Jesus, and this poem uses it as an object lesson.

Can I print this poem for church outreach?

Yes. Print as many as you like to attach to candy canes for your church, class or neighbors. It's free for church and home use.
